MADLAB, an architect and design team based in NY & NJ, joined forces with the artist collective, SPURSE as they were challenged to “rethink the power of design” after Carlo’s original design vision took a hit when he realized the high price tag and long fabrication times associated with it. Now a trip to IKEA would have been the easy way out, but over a bottle of wine (of course) they came up with a turnkey solution that required the client to give up all creative control in exchange for a “fast, cheap, and ingenious outcome”.

In these sunny days you might need some fun in the office. Rather than playing whodunit with a bunch of people you have never heard of, play a game where you know both the deceased and the suspects since they are all characters on The Office. All you have to do is figure out who killed Toby, with what weapon and where. The question of who should be easy: it has to be Michael. Nobody hates Toby as much as Michael. Check out some of the amusing weapons after the break including “The World’s Best Boss” mug and a George Foreman grill.

While others around you click away with Corporate’s stock mouse, you can mix it up with DJ Tech’s DJ Mouse.
The aluminum “feel” body is loaded with both jog and scroll wheels, meaning you can just as easily scroll through a spreadsheet as complete that Miley Cyrus/Styx mash-up sure to land you on the fast track to the Big Promotion. And yes, that big SCRATCH button actually allows you to scratch MP3s in real time (using bundled software).
The DJ Mouse is available now for $79. Of course, those of us who make sound effects with our mouths really frown upon this sort of thing.

The coolest idea of “meeting room” is the conference bike, which is designed for 7 people who pedal along, and it changes dramatically the way meetings were until now. It suggests a more relaxing environment for work, it contributes to bikers’ health and it also makes working funnier.

Over at Archdaily they invited architects from around the world to submit photos of their offices, and they demonstrate an interesting phenomenon: Architects usually design their spaces for collaboration. Where most businesses use have private offices, cube farms or office systems that promote privacy, architect’s offices so often ignore the rules that they impose on others and are in each others face, all the time.
